The general skilled migration programme (GSM) targets overseas people who possess the necessary education and skills in a particular occupation required in Australia.

Under this programme, an individual will get permanent residency if he / she meets all the criteria which allows the individuals to live and work in Australia for indefinite period. The majority of GSM visas require the applicant to pass a points test.  However, if the applicant does not meet the points test requirement, the applicant may consider applying for other type of visa.
